I’ve been, waiting, for so long My soul, is achin’, my nerve is worn She’s got a habit, different to mine Gets me a fi’ty, at the same time And you say (all that you want and all in good time) When I call (all that you want and all in good time) Won’t forget (all that you want and all in good time) What I paid for I’ve been, walking, for so long My feet are achin’, my shoes are worn Left onto Oxford, right onto Riley Street Look out pigeons get out from under my feet And you say (all that you want and all in good time) When I call (all that you want and all in good time) Won’t forget (all that you want and all in good time) What I paid for Mid She’s got a habit, different to mine Gets me a fi’ty, at the same time Ch And you say (all that you want and all in good time) When I call (all that you want and all in good time) Won’t forget (all that you want and all in good time) What I paid for

The Stand In 03:05
Once bit If the hats fit A fit’s a fit so I’ll wear it Got the call A walk on role A bit part without lines I am Here I stand Some kind of stand in, am I? All told Two months ago And as the time crawls by Things change And rearrange The more they stay the same I am Here I stand Some kind of stand in, am I? What’s the (difference) Anyone (tell me what) For the sake (of the real) Can you tell the fake, tell me, tell me that it’s just as good I am Here I stand Some kind of stand in I am Here I stand Some kind of stand in, am I?
3.
Don’t get up (don’t get up) I wanna take you on a trip Through my mind (a broken mind) Where things are less hip Three deities they sit on a stoop as they sip From a paper cup (don’t get up) Don’t trouble yourself if you’re gonna let the stars define Celebrating one More spin around the sun Don’t know why Leave it to your faits accompli Don’t get up (don’t get up) I wanna take you on a trip Through my mind (a broken mind) Where things are less hip Three deities they sit on a stoop as they sip From a paper cup (don’t get up) Just bet it all on black and close your eyes Mid Islamic, agnostic, catholic, masonic You’ve got a bucolic scene in your mind You’ve got a bucolic scene in your mind You’ve got a bucolic scene in your mind Celebrating one More spin around the sun Don’t know why Leave it to your faits accompli Celebrating one Stars a' broken, broken

I don’t want to piss on all you know But if memory serves of this I’m sure I want to kiss you on the mouth It’s an estimation of truth or thereabouts When I’m not in company, not among all the din A tangle of incidents speak to me Remember when the world was wide Everything was worth knowing C’mon take a look inside Everything was worth knowing That’s a pretty one I heard you say From the kitchen and down the hallway To the room where I wrote this song And we spent much of our days but that was long Ago and maybe part of me forgets how the story begins Why don’t you look on in to see Remember when the world was wide Everything was worth knowing C’mon take a look inside Everything was worth knowing I don’t want to piss on all you know But if memory serves of this I’m sure I want to kiss you on the mouth It’s a statement of fact no doubt Hell I can place you at the scene it’s a point I can pin You were leaning on in to me
5.
We lived on Bourke Street Corner of Wisdom Lane I see you standing there Sunlight and sepia tone It seems like half a lifetime But not so long When I think of that place I see the light and smell the air The sun was always streaming Through that window And in the morning light Far from sober light of morn And if somehow we could have our time again All that time you spent with those you loathe I see you standing there Sunlight and sepia tone It seems like half a lifetime But not so long When I think of that place I see the light and smell the air The sun was always streaming Through that window
6.
Tough company Oh, you are All you lazy songs Fillin’ up my house and car Climbing up the walls One gets up and says What you gonna do, for me? I said, I got plans for you, you see Get this song outta my head I’m trying, trying In the shadow of my doubt There it is Shout it out This was a song Always sitting there Drinking all my beer Eating all my bread Tough company Now that he’s out of the way The others gather round Who’s turn is it today? Roll another number as I think of something else that I might do Besides drinking this warm beer It’s a nonsense to believe We’re making any progress here Patching old songs Like catching birds’ tears
7.
Don’t dare check the time, lying here awake Like a man with a broken leg lying in a ditch cursing his fate Don’t matter what time it is, just know it’s late If I don’t get back, if I don’t get back Listen to the sounds, of the dark The hum of a passing car and a dog’s bark You can hear it in the cool night air, so clear and stark If I don’t get back, if I don’t get back At this crushing hour, of no return Try to think of far off things only it’s sleep for which I yearn Another storm rolls through my head and I toss and turn If I don’t get back, if I don’t get back
8.
I was only young and I was doing Nothing any good Places we grew up and we outgrew them It was understood Don’t know where I’m going Don’t know what I’m looking for Some kind of restless State I’m in You were crazy, I was desperate That’s when things were good I was drunk, I turned up to your party Hotel Hollywood Don’t know where I’m going Don’t know what I’m looking for Some kind of restless State I’m in Don’t know where I’m going Don’t know what I’m looking for Feels like I’m losing But who’s keeping score Yeah I been ripped off But I can cut a loss Some kind of restless State I’m in Some kind of restless State I’m in
9.
See the sunlight On my window Band of sunlight Oh so narrow Fall down softly Like a feather Duty sunlight Broken weather Venture outside Dare not wake her Brave the daylight It’s now or never
10.
All that I recall Of that weary afternoon, we stood And surveyed the scene On the porch On that heavy afternoon, we could Not shake ourselves free And all of his dreams Became could have beens, you know they could Of all the ends to all of your stories This is the one that I, did not foresee Of all the ends to stories Of all the ends to stories This is the least satisfying to me As the ashes rained Down on us that afternoon, we stood And watched the city seethe On that hilltop On that heavy afternoon, we could Not shake ourselves free All your scribblings away Labour in vain, or so it seems Of all the ends to your story This is the one that I, did not foresee Of all the ends to stories Of all the ends to stories This is the least satisfying to me Out Of all the ends to stories

about

On Middle Of The Road Class War Terra Nullius Blu Hoos, Glenn Richards of G.A. Richards & The Dark Satanic Mills Brothers, sings:

To the past there is no return
From the past there is no reprieve
There's no sleeping past check out
You've gotta pack your bags and leave

We thought this new album's worth of songs (Some Kind of Restless or SKoR for short) and which is about to be released, stood in stark contrast to those from our 2013 self-titled debut. A debut of which Michael Smith (The Music, 15-Jul-13) said 'lyrically Chamie has mined a suburban youth for inspiration and created something that evokes a particular time and place'.

And yet SKoR's vignettes and imagery are inevitably drawn from that same dreamscape of the past.

Perhaps this explains why, despite many of the songs being about taking flight from those 'places we grew up' (lyric from title track), when it came to selecting an image for the album artwork, drummer Jared Harrison's suggestion of a photo of the suburbs made perfect sense.

With richer production SKoR draws on a range of musical influences from The Pixies, Plastic Ono Band, George Harrison, The Black Lips and Stereolab to The Chills, Go-Betweens, and locals The Exiles and La Huva.
